Hiroshima & Miyajima Highlights Tour (8 hours)

 

Hiroshima has a tragic history from which much can be learned, but that’s not all there is to see in this western city. In this tour, you will combine Hiroshima’s most important sights with a visit to Miyajima, the island near the famous ‘floating torii gate’. Check out our Hiroshima and Miyajima tour itinerary!

The first place you will visit is the beautiful Shukkei garden, where you will find miniature landscapes with a little imagination, and you can take some wonderful pictures.

 

After that, the tragic history of Hiroshima will be discussed in the Peace Memorial Park, where you will visit the Atomic Bomb Dome and the impressive museum. The guide will give you even more background to what you see than what you can already read.

 

Then it’s time to go to Miyajima, where you will also have a local lunch in the pretty village center. You will see the torii gate, visit the Itsukushima shrine that belongs to the gate, and see the beautiful Daisho-in. If time allows, you will take a short hike up Mt Misen as well.

*It is important to note that renovations are currently being carried out on the shrine and the gate of Miyajima and that current views might differ slightly from what you usually see in pictures. The renovation works are set to continue at least into 2022.
