Hakodate Highlights tour itinerary

Japan’s northernmost island Hokkaido is simply stunning because of its wild nature. Those who love the wild outdoors cannot miss Hokkaido on their trip to Japan, and if you like bird watching it is also a great destination. Hakodate is a small and pretty town that prospered because of its fishing industry and still has many Meiji-era-influenced buildings.

Your first stop will be the morning market, where you will get a view and possibly a taste of some of the country’s freshest seafood. The next stop on the program is the Goryokaku Tower, where your guide will tell you more about the interesting history of the fort that you can see from the tower.

On your way to Motomachi, you will stop at Kyu Soma-tei which is a house in which you can see the mixing of Japanese and Western influences from the Meiji era clearly. In picturesque Motomachi you will see some of the best scenery in Japan and enter the most interesting buildings.

The guide will drop you off at the cruise terminal, at the Hakodate Museum of Northern Peoples if you are interested in learning more about Hokkaido’s original inhabitants the Ainu, or at the foot of Mt. Hakodate so you can either take the ropeway up or take a short hike to the summit to see a wonderful view of the city.
