Kamakura bicycle tour itinerary
After being picked up in your hotel and taking the train to Kamakura (~1 hour), you will pick up your reserved bicycles and be on your way! This is our standard Kamakura Bicycle tour itinerary:
*Hasedera: This temple has many sights on its grounds; a zen garden, a special cave, and a hydrangea walkway are only a few of the things to see. There is a great view of the bay as well.
*Daibutsu (Big Buddha): This is the 2nd tallest bronze Buddha statue in Japan and a great spot for taking pictures as beautiful as a picture postcard.
*Lunch on the mountain: lunch will be bought at a local convenience store and enjoyed with what will surely be your best lunch view ever in the background. Sometimes, Mt. Fuji can be seen from a spot nearby.
*Zeniarai Benten Shrine: a Shinto shrine that promises to double your money in an interesting way!
*Hokokuji (Bamboo Temple): This temple is not only interesting because of its history, but also because of its beautiful, mysterious bamboo forest in the garden.
*Tsurugaoka Hachimangu: being the Minamoto clan’s shrine, this is Kamakura’s most important shrine. Your guide will tell you about Kamakura’s illustrious history and (fun) facts about the temple.
*Short beach stop and shopping: If there is time, you will make a quick photo stop, and browse the central shopping street near the station where you can find great souvenirs and many local snacks.
